The mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, happened less than 24 hours after the mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, and compounded both pain and calls to action. Almost immediately, policymakers, presidential candidates, and everyday people alike demanded comprehensive gun restrictions, including universal background checks and assault weapons bans. It’s undeniable that something needs to change.
